April 25, 2015 - Sunset Selfie

This couple found the beach near the Mukilteo Light to be a nice location for a selfie this evening. The Puget Sound backdrop came complete with a setting sun and the 362 foot ferry Tokitae.

April 19, 2015 - Regarding Beauty

"Mary's Invitation - A Place to Regard Beauty", by Ginny Ruffner, was commissioned by the Seattle Art Museum to recognize one of the key benefactors of the SAM's Olympic Sculpture Park, Mary Shirley.  Located at the north end of Seattle's waterfront the nine acres of land underwent remediation after being reclaimed from industry, and transformed into a place from which one can accept Mary's invitation and regard beauty.

April 18, 2015 - Duck. Duck. Goose.

Duck.

Duck.

Goose.

Waterfowl, a muskrat, a bunny, a robin, some folks fishing and some shoppers from Trader Joe's were all sighted at Lynnwood's Scriber Lake.  Thanks for the tip on the duckling @sweatpea_snowy!

April 9, 2015 - Changing Form Again

"Changing Form", a sculpture by Doris Chase installed at Seattle's Kerry Park, perfectly captures the city skyline.  Here "Changing Form" framed the efforts of the low clouds from Elliott Bay to dim the skies for the city.  Their efforts were ultimately futile, as the sun prevailed!

The sculpture's top section was originally designed to rotate and frame the skyline in a more dynamic manner.  At this overlook it hasn't been needed.

April 4, 2015 - Pull! Sugar Sprint

At communities across the country kids sprint for plastic egg-shaped containers filled with sugar.  At Whidbey Island's Holmes Harbor Rod and Gun Club, home of the Pine Tree Room, the range is closed to firearms for the day and opened to the children of the Whidbey Island.  The sprint starts at the shooting stations and the kids go down range through a carpet of broken orange clay trap targets into the woods below to scoop up as many eggs as they can find.
