March 8, 2014 - Trumpeter Swans

 

A group of Trumpeter Swans is watched over by a pair of a Bald Eagles in a sodden field on the banks of the Snoqualmie River outside of Carnation in east King County.

March 19, 2011 - Winter's Last Morning

The sun rising over the Cascades breaking through the last winter's morning fog at Green Slough near the Carnation Golf Course east of Seattle.  Green Slough is one of many similar small bodies of water, mini-oxbow lakes, left as the Snoqualmie River channel changes course.

February 2, 2011 - Heron Now

"Coastal Salish Heron" by David Franklin and the Tolt Bridge on the Snoqualmie River are silhouetted by the sun rising over the Cascade Foothills.

The Tolt Bridge is the most recent crossing at this location.  This double truss bridge replaced a single truss bridge located 160 feet downstream in 2008. 

The metal art is a modernized depiction of a coastal tribe's Coastal Heron.
