April 5, 2021 - Tulipless

 

Mount Vernon's Tulip Festival is held every April.  At this point the tulips are still a couple of weeks away from full bloom.  The daffodils are blooming though!  There was even a Great Blue Heron and an Egret posing roadside for visitors.

Surrounded by perfectly straight rows of vibrant colors, a stroll through the tulip fields in the Skagit Valley on a sunny spring day is a wonderfully unique experience.

April 4, 2016 - Harvesting Blooms

Each April more than a million people will come to see 300 acres of rich color in bloom on the Skagit River delta outside of Mount Vernon, a town of 30,000 an hour north of Seattle.

A Dutch immigrant, William Roozen, is the patriarch of a family that is key to the area's colorful harvest.  Roozen, means 'roses' in Dutch.  The family bulb growing goes back to the mid-1700s!

March 8, 2013 - Spring Forward

Vendors at Pike Place Market sell Spring a bouquet at a time.  Daylight Savings begins this weekend and the daffodils are blooming...Spring must be close!

The weather wasn't the only brisk thing this holiday weekend, so was the business of selling fresh splashes of spring at a dollar per stem!
