June 22, 2013 - Super Buick Super

Given the amount of adoration the owner of this 1940 classic has demonstrated, a house of worship seems an appropriate background.  The hubcap and driver's door are pristine mirrors of Bellingham's southside classic - the Sacred Heart church, built in 1913.

The 1940 Buick Series Super 50 was first introduced in 1940 and featured a cutting edge "torpedo" body style and the 248 cubic inch Fireball I8 V8 engine.  Over 125,000 vehicles were sold in the first year.  While production was interrupted during WWII, the vehicle remained in production until replaced by the Buick Electra in 1959.
